A question that I get a lot this time of year – “is it too late to sell?”
Many people assume that the housing market is only good in the spring and summer and that nothing sells in the fall and winter. Well, I can tell you with good confidence that is a myth and homes do sell all year round.
Many make the assumption that everyone sells for the same reasons as they would sell for and that people buy a home for the same reasons that they would buy a home. The truth is people buy and sell for all kinds of reasons and many of them happen outside of what most people think of as the “real estate season.”
As you can see from the chart below, last year there were nearly as many homes sold in September, October, and November as there were in March, April, and May of this year. While the December, January and February months definitely show a lower volume of homes sold, there were still quite a few sold. In fact, the lowest month of sales volume of January still sold just under half the number of homes that were sold in the highest volume month of June.
While the chart covers the entire Columbus market and tells a story about the market in general, your house may be significantly different. There are many factors including specifically where your house is located, the floor plan, whether you live in a house or a condo, and many other things that can make a difference.
