Gallo’s Tap Room — now open in Powell (240 N. Liberty Street)!

Columbus born and raised brother’s Nick and Tommy Gallo have strong family ties to Columbus. Their grandfather Oreste Paul’s company, O.P. Gallo Tuxedo, serviced formal tuxedo wear to many throughout the years dating back to 1946. After working alongside their father Bo, as well as several uncles and cousins for many years, they witnessed hard work first-hand and realized they had their own path to discover. Nick Giantonio, their other grandfather, owned GiAntonio Pastry Shop on High Street for years. Watching their grandfather make artistic wedding cakes for the public was something they grew to appreciate. Older brother Nick Gallo worked in the restaurant industry for years opening many new restaurants and bars when the Arena District first took off, while younger brother Tommy Gallo was training under Head Chef David Russo in Akron, Ohio at the Liberty Street Brewing Company. After many long nights of talking amongst family, friends, and plenty of vino, their dreams to combine talents along with cousin Larry Gallo helped them to open a new restaurant concept in Columbus.

Gallo’s Tap Room was opened in November 2004 as being one of the first in the area to feature micro brews on tap in an upscale sports bar. A distinguished antler chandelier that was discussed all the time was an added touch to Tommy’s idea to offer nothing but fresh, simple, authentic cuisine! They have supported local charities year after year through their Italian Day and Fat Tuesday celebrations. “We pride ourselves on great food, an amazing beer selection and one of the best places to watch sports in town!”

Not fully reaching his potential yet, Tommy wanted to try his creativity in Upper Arlington when the two brothers and cousin opened Gallo’s Kitchen and Bar in October of 2010. Their motto the “Heart of Italy with the Soul of New Orleans” features numerous Italian and Creole dishes amongst seafood and steak that you cannot find anywhere else in the city! The restaurant is open for dinner Monday through Saturday evenings with a hopping bar crowd at happy hour! Chef Tommy will amaze you with his knowledge of food and commitment to nothing but the best! The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, features an impressive wine list, and they source local product as often as it is available. You will often find Nick’s children Christiana, Vittorio, or Giovanni greeting you at the front door.

While Tommy took off at Gallo’s Kitchen, the Tap Room welcomed Chef Dave Koenig from Cincinnati. He impressed all that have tried his New York style pie and daily sold out features! Recently Nick and bar manager Joe Casey added a one-of-a-kind whiskey area to the Tap Room to try many sought after whiskeys featuring their own line of Gallo’s barrel picks. “We offer friendly service sure to please for any party or gathering, come check us out!”

With both restaurants moving full speed ahead, Nick said it is time for #3. Many seem to agree and they are excited to announce they have opened their newest Gallo’s Tap Room in Powell! In the old Hickory House location at 240 N. Liberty Street, the sports bar features a private party room with a fireplace and a beautiful bar with an amazing wine, beer, and whiskey selection!
