This traditional holiday cookie recipe comes from one of our buyer’s agents, Mandy Rich (with special thanks to Mandy’s Mom for sharing the recipe and picture!).
1 lb. (4 sticks) unsalted butter (softened)
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup walnuts, finely chopped but not ground
Beat butter, powdered sugar, and salt until fairly light – about 4 minutes. Add vanilla and flour; mix. Stir in walnuts. Roll into one inch balls. Place on parchment lined cookie sheet about 1 inch apart. Bake at 325 degrees on upper middle rack for approximately 22 minutes.
When cool, roll in powdered sugar. Store in tightly covered container.
Makes about 100 cookies
* Can be baked a few weeks ahead and put in freezer bag. Thaw and then roll in powdered sugar.
